This is just a post to let everyone know what’s been happening lately as far as my writing goes.

Hardboiled Crime Scene

HARDBOILED: CRIME SCENE ANTHOLOGY TO FEATURE SHORT STORY EXCERPT FROM CONFESSIONS OF SEPTIMUS P. NASBY

Item one is the news that The Badger Game, a short story excerpted from my Civil War crime novel, The Confessions Of Septimus P. Nasby, has been accepted for publication by Dead Guns Press for their Hardboiled: Crime Scene anthology. This is a very flattering and welcome development for a number of reasons. I’ve long been a fan of the hard-boiled style, ever since I read Dashiell Hammett as a kid. I aspire to write in the same manner. Getting this story accepted by a publishing firm like Dead Guns Press that’s dedicated to printing just this sort of prose is an important validation. To my mind, it also confirms that I’m onto something good with Confessions. Let’s hope that at some point I can convince a literary agent of that.

Hoodoo Voodoo

THAT HOODOO, VOODOO THAT YOU DO ANTHOLOGY WITH SHORT STORY JOHNNY TWO PLACES TO APPEAR IN FEB 2015

Item two: I recently received a further update regarding progess on the voodoo themed anthology edited by Lincoln Crisler and to be printed by Ragnarok Publications. The anticipated publication date for the anthology is in February 2015. My short story, Johnny Two Places, is set in pre-revolutionary, 1950’s Havana, and describes the unexpected twist of fate that befalls an Italian wise guy after he does a good turn for a voodoo mambo (female priest). Again, this yarn is a personal favorite of mine and I’ll be delighted to see it in print.
